We are a multidisciplinary team of computer scientists, health professionals, faith leaders, and church members. We believe in engaging community members as partners in technology design. This project began in 2019 with the help of a small team of dedicated members from two churches. With their help, we launched our first app, and expanded to 4 churches.
The goal of the project is to support and amplify church-based health promotion activities. In this project, we have partnered with the Black Ministerial Alliance TenPoint (BMATP) of Greater Boston and church members to co-design a smartphone application. By working with church members, we hope to create an application that reflects the priorities and values of their church community.
To create and evaluate, together with historically-Black churches, a mobile app that empowers churches to achieve increased wellbeing, enrich community, and amplify the impact of church health ministry.
To reduce health disparities in Black & African-American communities, through innovative technologies that reflect the joint values of community, wellbeing, and spiritual faith.
